Beginning July 1, Leadership Oakland will operate with a new slate of officers and directors. Two members of the board are retiring due to term limits as outlined in the organizational by-laws. Retiring from the board are Mike Witzke, WitzkeBerry, PLLC and Janet McPeek, Crossroads for Youth. Both individuals were congratulated and thanked for their service at the Leadership Oakland Annual Meeting held June 18, 2010.
New to the board are Tricia Llewellyn, Department of Energy Labor & Economic Growth and Jim Piper, Ralco Industries, Inc. The Board Executive Team will include: President, Jim Giszczak, McDonaldHopkins, PLC; Vice President, Greg Capler, Litpac; Secretary, Mario Agosta, HAP; and Secretary Charlon Hibbard, MaryKay Cosmetics. Board President Carla Gribbs, DTE Energy, has completed her years on the Executive Team and will remain on the board for another three year term. At the meeting Gribbs stated “You are only as strong as the team to which you belong and the Leadership Oakland Board is a strong group and an absolute pleasure to work with.”
All members of the board are graduates of the Leadership Oakland year-long Cornerstone program and have a passion and commitment to developing leaders in Southeast Michigan. Leadership Oakland Executive Director, Chris Scharrer commented on the board. “This wonderful group of leaders takes their role as a governance body very seriously. At the same time they have fun and create a culture of support for one another. It makes me love my job!”
