Leadership Oakland opened its 20th Anniversary Year with a retreat for this year’s class LOXX.  In the tradition of Leadership Oakland, the new class gathered at a rustic camp and experienced team building, personal leadership assessment and goal setting, and learning about Oakland County, the region and the state.  Class members represent a wide range of corporations, educational institutions, and non-profit agencies in the region.  All are leaders interested in further developing their own understanding of the region and state and the challenges and resources that impact our businesses and communities.

In keeping with the spirit of Leadership Oakland, the retreat experience is intended to build relationships among class members as the basis for learning together.  The class will be deciding on a class service project later in the year which provides an applied learning opportunity.  Class member Kelly Miller of the Greater West Bloomfield Coalition penned a note to LO staff stating, “Thank you for such a warm welcome to Leadership Oakland.  The retreat was a wonderful experience and I left feeling connected to the group…I look forward to the year ahead as a member of LOXX-Best Class Ever!!”
