This comprehensive leadership experience is available only to graduates of the Leadership Oakland Cornerstone program who are interested in taking their personal leadership to a higher level. A select group of 12-15 individuals will be chosen to participate. Those selected will:
- Explore leadership models, best practices, and case studies
- Discover new ways of thinking and applying leadership in all aspects of life
- Challenge themselves and others to rise to a higher level of performance
- Establish individual and group goals and track progress, challenges and attainment
- Support, mentor and encourage one another toward success
The Institute will begin with a “Quest for Excellence” retreat in October 2013 that will lay the foundation for the work of the group over the course of the year. Once each month from November-May, participants will meet from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. for “Harborview” sessions. These monthly sessions will explore a variety of leadership topics and will provide check-in points to help everyone stay on course. The expertise within the group will be mined as real life situations are discussed, dissected, and problem solved.
While the program will have a structured framework, the group will help establish details that will offer the best possible elements to meet individual participant needs. Ultimately, each member of the group will demonstrate growth and attainment relative to the goals they have set—and met—over the course of the year. The program will conclude with a graduation celebration held jointly with the Cornerstone graduation.
